Gadgets Gone Wild: AT&T Rolls Out New Curve, e71x
05/04/2009
AT&T Inc. (T) said Monday it will start selling the new BlackBerry Curve 8900 early this summer and it’s also offering the new Nokia e71x for a mere $100 (if it’s time to upgrade your phone, that is). The latest Curve is all the rage – indeed, BlackBerry maker Research in Motion moved more of its devices in the first quarter than Apple did its iPhone. The 8900 model comes with a more compact shape than its predecessors, a high-res display, a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus and more. Still, some in the blogosphere are playing down the Curve as a mirror of the same device sold at AT&T rival T-Mobile. The Nokia e71x, meanwhile, is producing some pretty hefty excitement. Industry watchers are saying it’s better more appealing on the aesthetic and tech fronts than the BlackBerry Bold. AT&T is selling the e71x for around $300 unless a subscriber is eligible for a rebate – that would bring the cost down to about $100.
