Canal Digital Selects Amino for IPTV Deployment

01/25/2006

IPTV software and CPE provider Amino said this week it has been working with Canal Digital to bring IPTV services to subscribers in Norway.

So far, Canal Digital has deployed AmiNET110 IPTV set-top boxes to subscribers’ homes so it could offer full IPTV services by the end of 2005.

The service rollout initially will cater to subscribers who can receive Canal Digital content over DSL and FTTH. IPTV subscribers also will be able to order individual movies or games for downloading.

The AmiNET110 set-top box is compatible with the MPEG-2 video compression standard. The unit features an Ethernet input and flexible audio/video output with a USB interface for game controllers. The unit is also compatible with the Coaxsys and ReadyLinks SmartFoot adapters, which can be used to stream video to other televisions around the home using existing coaxial cable infrastructure, reducing the costs for operators in deploying IPTV.
