2006 was a breakthrough year for mid-band Ethernet, with telcos of all sizes embracing the technology to expand their reach and drive top-line revenue.

About 1 million businesses over the next five years will migrate from T1 legacy services to Ethernet services, which will total more than $8 billion annually in U.S. service revenue. But only about 10 percent of U.S. businesses have fiber to them, so service providers need to find another way to reach small businesses as well as large organizations like hospitals that need to connect with clinics and other locations that are not reached by fiber.

The solution for many has been to leverage existing copper connections to deliver mid-band Ethernet services, which typically run from $500 to $2,000 for 2- to 20-megs.

In this Webinar, service providers will:

  • Learn about the revenue-generating potential of mid-band Ethernet for all types of carriers in any size market
  • Hear a service provider testimonial about the benefits of offering mid-band Ethernet
  • Understand how mid-band Ethernet addresses businesses' IP migration requirements and supports the QoS requirements of the triple play
  • Discover the types of applications carriers are supporting with mid-band Ethernet on the business and consumer side

Moderator: Paula Bernier, Editor in Chief, xchange
Speakers: Gary Bolton, Vice President of Marketing & Product Management, Hatteras Networks
Don MacNeil, Vice President of Carrier Operations, XO Communications Inc.
