Global Crossing Announces Multiservice Deal with Reader’s Digest

Service provider Global Crossing (Booth 422), a leading global IP solutions provider, announced that Reader’s Digest Association, a global publisher and direct marketer of books, magazines, music collections and video, is using an array of its IP and voice services to improve internal communications among the company’s North American and European locations. The carrier’s core network connects more than 320 cities in 31 countries worldwide, and delivers services to more than 600 cities in 60 countries and six continents.

“We chose Global Crossing because of its secure, worldwide IP network, personalized customer support including a dedicated account team, and seamless integration of its converged, global communications services,” said Robert Gerstle, associate director of network services with Reader’s Digest. “Global Crossing’s Global 800 and [dedicated Internet access] services improve our staff’s productivity by giving us instantaneous and constant global reach between our U.S. headquarters in Pleasantville, N. Y., and our many other interests, from Chicago to Prince Edward Island, to points throughout Europe, Australia and beyond.”

Reader’s Digest has customers in more than 70 countries and publishes 77 magazines, including 50 local-country editions of its flagship product, Reader’s Digest.

Reader’s Digest also turned to Global Crossing’s converged communications services to help increase its staff’s productivity through more effective meetings.

To facilitate communications among its many global locations, the publication is using Ready-Access audio collaboration service, Global “800” Service, DIA and long-distance voice services.

Global Crossing said its collaboration services bring geographically dispersed teams together and offers enterprises a full suite of converged IP collaboration services.

Audio conferencing services include Ready-Access, Global “800” Service, VoIP Ready-Access, Event Call, Event Express Call and Automated Event Call.

Customers around the world can connect to Global Crossing’s audio collaboration platform using a mix of toll-free and local access methods, according to the carrier. Web conferencing services include Ready-Access Web Meeting,

eMeeting and Live Meeting powered by Microsoft. Video conferencing services include iVideoconferencing, IP Video, Ready-Access Video, and Video Endpoint Management Service supporting both ISDN and IP-based endpoints.
