ECI Adds MPLS Functionality, Enhances Multiservice Access Node Series
10/16/2007
In a series of product news announced at the Fall 2007 COMPTEL show in Dallas, ECI Telecom Ltd. introduced a family of MPLS line cards to its XDM MSPP to support real-time services such as triple play, VPN and Ethernet-based 3G cellular backhauling. The MCS/M family of line cards is fully compliant with the MEF requirements for carrier-class Ethernet. By adding MPLS line cards to new or deployed XDM-based SONET/SDH networks, service providers efficiently can migrate their networks and increase revenue through the new Ethernet services, said ECI. “ECI is offering new and existing customers the ability to easily slot in MPLS capabilities for access to core on the XDM, giving them full [Layer 1, Layer 2] and supporting deterministic end-to-end Ethernet service delivery, and a cost-effective means of migration to carrier-class Ethernet networks,” said David Dunphy, principal analyst and managing partner of Telecom Strategy Partners. ECI also announced a new version of its multilayer network management system. LightSoft Version 4 enables MPLS tunnels and Ethernet service provisioning and supports E2E service management and the convergence of multiple networks and technologies, such as TDM, carrier-class Ethernet and ROADM-based next-generation WDM in the XDM packet optical platform. The company also unveiled additional features to its Hi-FOCuS-5 multiservice access node (MSAN) series, which now supports over 1 million IPTV subscribers worldwide. The MSAN’s new traffic management capabilities provide increased flexibility through optimal bandwidth management and allow carriers higher flexibility when deploying video networks, through higher and more differentiated QoS granularity, said the company. The Hi-FOCuS MSAN provides support for multifiber access — GPON and point-to-point Ethernet, xDSL, voice emulation and voice simulation — within a single platform. ECI also expanded its MSAN offering with improved xDSL service blades, which use the same base card to reduce training time and costs. ECI Telecom Ltd. www.ecitele.com
