Tollgrade Unveils DigiTest ICE IP Service Assurance Probe

06/20/2007

Tollgrade Communications Inc. introduced its DigiTest ICE IP Service Assurance Probe for remote low-line-count DSLAM locations.

To meet the trend of triple-play services being deployed increasingly over FTTN networks, DigiTest ICE is designed to be installed at remote locations that support fewer subscribers via lower-line-count DSLAMs, located closer to the subscriber, the company said.

The solution’s IP service assurance applications, which are optimized for remote low-line-count DSLAMs, include xDSL pre-qualification to analyze a DSLAM-based metallic loop’s ability to support a wide variety of xDSL services prior to service delivery; network verification to provide synchronization with xDSL DSLAM and CPE modems as well as ATM/Ethernet network emulation; and IP service assurance via high-speed Internet, VoIP and IPTV client emulations, allowing operators to remotely detect and isolate Layer 4-7 service performance troubles.

“With its compact size, flexible mounting configurations and low power consumption, DigiTest ICE provides service providers with a powerful service assurance solution for today’s highly distributed IP triple-play network architectures,” said Mark B. Peterson, Tollgrade’s president and CEO.

When managed by the LoopCare Test Operations Support System, Tollgrade’s DigiTest product family allows service providers to maintain multiple IP services, proactively identify network issues and faults prior to subscriber trouble reports, reduce trouble-ticket volume and minimize costly dispatches through expert trouble analysis, said the company.
