SafeNet Achieves FIPS Certification

06/19/2007

Information security provider SafeNet Inc. said it has received the highest level of security certification so far obtained by a high-speed Ethernet encryptor.

SafeNet makes the SafeEnterprise Ethernet 1.0GB WAN Encryptors, which the company said has earned Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2, Level 3 approval.

The certification “shows our clients – the most security conscious organizations in the world – that they are buying a leading product that is government-validated for their security needs,” said Andy Solterbeck, vice president of product management in the commercial security division for SafeNet.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology grants FIPS certifications and specifies the requirements cryptographic security products and services must meet. The U.S. government mandates that all of its agencies use FIPS-validated security products.
