NEC Launches Enhanced Service Aggregation Switch

02/12/2007

NEC Corp. has introduced a new service aggregation switch, the CX2600/200 series, based on the CX2600 series that has shipped since 2003.

The device has additional TDM/ATM interfaces, maintenance operation functionality and so-called intelligent QoS to help carriers carry out mobile infrastructure backhaul area migration as they change to all-IP networks.

As traffic increases thanks to 3G/3.5G services, carriers need mobile backhaul solutions that effectively use existing infrastructure while making way for upgrades to IP networks, NEC said.

The company is displaying the switches at this week’s 3GSM World Congress 2007.
