Navini Demonstrates Smart Beamforming

Navini Networks is demonstrating smart beamforming on its Ripwave MX mobile WiMAX platform at the Wireless Communications Association (WCA) show in San Jose, Calif.

Navini Networks said it is showing "Wave 2" mobile WiMAX functionality of

beamforming on the Ripwave MX platform. The company also is applying beamforming to MIMO, called smart WiMAX.

"Beamforming enhances the performance of both MIMO A and B and provides

crucial uplink performance that MIMO does not,” said Sai Subramanian, vice president of strategic marketing and product management for Navini. “Without beamforming, MIMO B performance in many situations is suboptimal at best and non-existent at worst. Smart MIMO takes away that uncertainty and allows MIMO B to work in all situations.”
