Verimatrix, Motorola Enter Into Technology Alliance

Verimatrix, which develops content security technologies for pay-TV networks, has aligned itself with Motorola Inc. to integrate the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) with the equipment maker’s IP set-top boxes.

Motorola’s advanced VIP1900 series will be the first line of IP set-top boxes to fully support VCAS. The series has HD and standard definition in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, and DVR support including time shift.

Verimatrix is demonstrating VCAS integrated with HD set-top boxes and DVRs at TelcoTV 2006.

Motorola’s VIP1900 series combines consumer features, such as HDTV, DVR and media center with operator features such as low bit rate video formats and flexible application possibilities.
