xchange to Announce Best of WiMAX World Awards

xchange magazine (Booth 60) will announce the Best of WiMAX World Awards today to recognize leaders in the development and deployment of WiMAX technologies.

xchange was tapped by Trendsmedia, producer of the WiMAX World USA Conference & Expo, to sponsor and administer the awards program. Nominations were open to exhibitors and sponsors of the conference. Nearly 50 nominations were received between Aug. 21 and Sept. 15, 2006, for awards in the following categories:

• Commercial Application/Deployment — Service Provider

• Commercial Application/Deployment — Equipment Vendor

• Systems Design

• Device/Peripheral/Application Software

• Chip Design

• Industry Innovation

Selection of winners was made by an independent Award Selection Committee, including Charles Wu, principal, CWLab; Craig Mathias, principal, Farpoint Group; Will Strauss, principal analyst, Forward Concepts; Adlane Fellah, CEO and founder, Maravedis Inc.; Carolyn Gabriel, lead research analyst, Rethink Research; Berge Ayvazian, chief strategy officer, Yankee Group; and representatives from xchange and Trendsmedia.

“We are pleased to be selected by Trendsmedia to sponsor the Best of WiMAX World Awards,” said Mike Saxby, xchange group publisher. “xchange has been following the developments in the fixed wireless space since it was founded 10 years ago. WiMAX is emerging as an increasingly important technology for the continued growth of innovative service provider delivery models.
