Alvarion Goes Mobile in 2007

10/12/2006

Alvarion Ltd. (Booth 309) has announced the commercial availability of its WiMAX products — BreezeMAX 2300 and 2500 — for North America and markets in Latin America, Russia, Africa and Asia Pacific.

The 2300 and 2500 solutions are based on IEEE 802.16e standards and mark the company’s move toward mobile WiMAX services. Currently undergoing field testing, commercial trials will begin later this year with product deliveries starting in the first quarter of 2007.

BreezeMAX 2300 and 2500 are extensions of the BreezeMAX solution launched in 2004, and are for carriers interested in providing fixed, nomadic, portable and mobile applications to mass market, urban areas. It is a thirdgeneration OFDM platform with advanced non-line-of-sight functionality designed for operators to offer broadband IPbased data and voice services. It enables carriers to offer multiple services to thousands of subscribers in a single cell, the company said.
