Telefonica Selects Openwave’s Adaptive Messaging Platform
09/14/2006
Openwave Systems Inc. recently announced that mobile telecommunications company Telefonica Moviles Espana, has selected a mobile e-mail service based on Openwave's IP-based Adaptive Messaging platform. With the new messaging service, Telefonica subscribers can receive real-time advanced e-mail alerts from multiple existing e-mail accounts, and fully manage their mailboxes from any mobile phone. “Our continued market leadership is predicated upon us being able to rapidly offer our customers the most engaging and intuitive communication experiences possible,” said Alfonso Perea, director of messaging services at Telefonica. “By teaming with Openwave, we are able to offer converged adaptive messaging services that will help us to reduce churn, boost adoption and increase average revenue per user, both now and in the future.” Openwave's adaptive messaging platform uses the native client with no additional downloads required, which enables operators to reach the broadest range of handsets in their installed base, offering their subscribers message access from a single inbox regardless of whether the message is in SMS, MMS or e-mail form. Openwave's mobile e-mail service includes e-mail notifications and e-mail that users can manage via mobile handsets or PCs; a single inbox for SMS, MMS and e-mail; e-mails and alerts pushed to the user's existing mobile; branded Web mail; the ability to listen to e-mail messages using a telephone; aggregated message receipt and management for noncarrier-owned messages; and a self-care interface that allows users to set up their personal preferences, like filters for mobile e-mail.
