Ranch Networks Releases VoIP Matrix Technology

Ranch Networks, a provider of networking appliances for VoIP deployments, unveiled its VoIP Matrix Technology at Fall VON.

The technology is a clustering technique that increases scalability, reliability and security across Asterisk server farms. It will allow call centers, enterprises and service providers to combine one or more Asterisk servers with a Ranch Networks appliance, forming a virtual IP PBX that supports a large number of simultaneous calls.

The VoIP Matrix Technology, bridged with the Ranch Networks hardware, ensures zero dropped calls on a VoIP network, the company said. It bridges the RTP media between the SIP endpoints, allowing media to continually flow without interruption, even if an Asterisk server is unplugged. All new calls then are distributed among the remaining PBXs in the cluster. Users can add more PBXs as needed.

Users can access the virtual IP PBX using one IP address and MAC. Each Asterisk server used to form the virtual IP PBX within the cluster is monitored using SIP health messages. When a PBX stops responding to the SIP health monitoring messages, it is taken out of the cluster in real time. As soon as it starts responding to the SIP health-monitoring messages, it is added back to the cluster.

The VoIP Matrix Technology is available with the Ranch Networks 20, 40 and 41.
