Qwest Expands Wholesale VoIP Offers

Rounding out its portfolio of wholesale VoIP services, Qwest Communications International Inc. has added Qwest IP Voice 8xx Origination and Qwest Wholesale Hosted VoIP service to its suite of solutions for wholesale VoIP customers.

Derek Koecher, Qwest’s director of wholesale, noted the company announced an IP termination product more than two years ago. The new origination service rounds out that product. “That’s huge for our customers who go after call center traffic,” he said. “It really allows for incremental business on +1 800 [service].”

Pricing on the origination service is the same as Qwest’s TDM-based origination service, Koecher adds, but represents a savings to wholesale customers, which no longer have to invest in TDM switches and access as a result.

The hosted service, meanwhile, provides VoIP in a box for Qwest’s wholesale customers, including resellers, cable companies, ISPs and others, he said. It allows these partners to launch quickly digital telephony services to residential, small business and enterprise customers. “And it’s completely white-labeled,” he said.

Both new services are now available nationwide.
