Multi-Tech Debuts Wireless CallFinder GSM
09/27/2005
Multi-Tech Systems Inc., a manufacturer of telephony, Internet and device networking products, today introduced its wireless CallFinder Global System for Mobile (GSM), which keeps companies’ phone systems connected to cellular wireless networks. Multi-Tech launched the device at CTIA Wireless in San Francisco. The CallFinder GSM connects to a standard telephone system analog port, which then sends and receives phone calls over cellular wireless networks using least-cost routing. Multi-Tech says this cuts down on long-distance costs and provides emergency backup when PSTN lines do not work. The CallFinder GSM CF100 series will start shipping next quarter. “With the attractive pricing of long-distance charges on cellular wireless accounts, it would be advantageous to use them for every day business communications," says Chip Harleman, vice president of sales and marketing. "But providing workers with individual cell phones can negate the cost saving[s]. With our new wireless CallFinder GSM, however, cellular accounts can be shared using existing telephone equipment.” The series interfaces to most call-processing systems using the analog Foreign eXchange Subscriber or Foreign eXchange Office interfaces.
