Rodopi, BroadSoft Team Up for VoIP with Back Office

BroadSoft Inc. and Rodopi Software announced at SUPERCOMM they have teamed to offer a turnkey VoIP service-and-OSS offer for service providers.

BroadSoft has integrated Rodopi’s automated provisioning module into its BroadWorks network communication platform. BroadWorks’s application software supports hosted PBX, IP Centrex, residential broadband, collaborative conferencing and other IP services. Rodopi’s OSS suite interfaces to BroadWorks, so VoIP network operators or resellers can offer enhanced applications without additional investment for the requisite account management and billing functions to support them.

The module automates residential and business customer signup online, activating VoIP and other services in real-time and triggering automatic billing, payment processing and customer care setup and service. For example, residential customers can turn on and off services such as call forwarding, screening and return, three-way calling and caller ID via the Web, minimizing customer service calls and tapping down costs for the service provider.

"Convergent service providers, and in particular wholesalers and their resellers, need an automated, out-of-the-box solution to quickly and cost effectively roll out bundles of IP-based services," says Todd Benjamin, president and CEO of Rodopi.

The first customer is New Global Telecom, which will begin offering the solution as part of its turnkey 6DegreeIP suite of managed wholesale VoIP services in July.

Switch vendors and billing companies are coming together with other turnkey systems as well. Veraz Networks and RiverRock Systems Ltd., for example, have collaborated on a solution that features Veraz’s programmable packet telephony solution — distributed softswitch, I-Gate media gateway and third-party validation — with the RiverRock RADIX integrated billing and customer care solution.

VocalTec Communications Ltd. and EyeBill Interactive Solutions also announced the integration of EyeBill’s real-time billing platform with VocalTec’s carrier-grade VoIP architecture in support of prepaid or postpaid VoIP services. The solution enables real-time billing and balance verification, Web-based self-provisioning, batch and lot management and PIN creation.
