VocalData Inc. announced a new reseller and an existing partner's wholesale success at SUPERCOMM 2003.
Apollo Broadband, a Kansas City, Mo.-based broadband provider, has selected VocalData's VOISS application server for its hosted PBX service. The service will be deployed in July.
Apollo Broadband sells last-mile broadband access to CLECs and ISPs along with local and long-distance services. Apollo Broadband will add enhanced local voice capabilities to its service offering by reselling the VOISS solution. Apollo Broadband says it expects to see growth in its revenue stream by 45 to 50 percent, while improving its cost structure and its ability to control service quality.
In addition to residential features such as E911 and basic PBX capabilities, Apollo Broadband is offering a Web portal and unified messaging on the platform, so users can reduce long-distance charges or establish a remote presence by selecting a telephony number from various locations all across the United States.
"VocalData's solution allows us to reach an attractive wholesale price point while bundling converged services on one bill, resulting in services that are 30 to 40 percent less than the incumbent," explains William Wells, president and CEO of Apollo Broadband. "The degree of application integration, including VocalData's built-in VOISS Proxy Firewall for enterprise firewall traversal, is a key factor enabling Apollo Networks to launch our new IP telephony service in record time."
Meanwhile, Go-Comm has signed vNet Source, a U.S.-based provider of next-generation telephony services, as a distribution partner. vNet Source will distribute Go-Comm's VOISS-based services to 28 additional markets.
"Go-Comm's move into wholesale services provides a vehicle for regional and emerging providers to deliver a proven turnkey IP Centrex service. With vNet Source's VoIP infrastructure in 28 markets and experience in long distance, we facilitate a complete solution including long distance, Centrex and back-office support with little or no CapEx requirements to our partners," says Jeff Severs, COO at Go-Comm. "VocalData's VOISS platform appeals to prospective retail service providers, since it has the richest set of hosted PBX features as well as a complete portfolio of pre-integrated, enhanced applications. The pre-integration of applications is a powerful weapon for service providers wishing to launch services quickly."
VocalData also announced compatibility of the Mitel Networks 5055 SIP phone with VocalData's VOISS application server at SUPERCOMM.
"By working with VocalData, we're able to provide a powerful offering for businesses that prefer a hosted telephony solution," says Ray Brown, vice president of enterprise solutions at Mitel Networks. "VocalData embraces a similar philosophy as Mitel Networks by supporting tightly integrated applications as well as a broad range of third-party providers through open interfaces and standards-compliant design -- thus providing the most flexibility to end users."
"Mitel Networks phones are known for their high degree of usability, combined with good sound quality," said Mark Whittier, vice president of corporate marketing at VocalData. "Interoperability between Mitel and VocalData's reliable VOISS solution represents the first of several steps that will advance carrier options for delivering IP Centrex solutions."
VocalData's IP Centrex and hosted PBX applications support three IP telephony protocols: SIP, MGCP and SCCP.
