WiMAX World: Moto Working on Automotive WiMAX Apps

Motorola Inc. has begun a proof-of-concept trial for a mobile WiMAX module designed for in-car telemetry applications like infotainment systems and Internet-assisted navigation.

The X24 is a machine-to-machine (M2M) module based on Motorola's WTM1000 WiMAX chipset. The X24 is on display and being demoed at WiMAX World 2008.

"Motorola is dedicated to accelerating the proliferation of WiMAX, and this announcement affirms our commitment to chipset ecosystem development," said Gary Koerper, vice president of engine platforms at Motorola.
