Verizon Seals the Alltel Deal

Congratulations, Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ). You are now the largest wireless service provider in the United States.

But you knew that already.

For the rest of us, Verizon closed its $28.1 billion acquisition of Alltel Corp. on Friday. The deal was announced in summer 2008 and pushed through the regulatory process in seemingly record time.

We’ve been wondering about the fate of Alltel spokesboy Chad and today we wonder, will he stand next to Trenchcoat Guy in the Verizon commercials? They could banter.

Or something.
