MWC Preview: Upstart Symbian Foundation Making Strides

Just a few days before the start of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Symbian Foundation says its leadership team is in place and it’s engaging with its rapidly growing ecosystem of developers, hardware manufacturers and other partners. The foundation also has ramped up its recruitment drive.

The Symbian Foundation will be an exhibitor at the MWC from Feb. 16-19. Executive director Lee Williams will deliver his view of open source in mobile.

Founding members of Symbian include AT&T, Motorola, Nokia and Samsung. According to its Web site, the foundation was created to “provide royalty-free open platform and accelerate innovation” in the mobile industry.
