Twitter Welcomes Oprah, Ashton Kutcher Out-Tweets CNN

As if Twitter isn’t getting enough exposure this day, the microblogging site has welcomed Oprah Winfrey to the fray.

In her first tweet ever this week, Oprah said “HI TWITTERS. THANK YOU FOR A WARM WELCOME. FEELING REALLY 21st CENTURY.” Her all-caps “shouting” may have teed off some people, but not Twitter. You can only imagine the extra clout the company will get from having Oprah on board. The queen of talk is getting more than 1,000 responses per minute to her comment.

Meantime, Ashton Kutcher has defeated CNN in a battle for Twitter supremacy. He became the first Twitter user to get 1 million followers. In a bet with Larry King earlier this week, Kutcher agreed to donate 10,000 mosquito nets for World Malaria Day later this month if he were to become the king of tweets. It was a comeback victory. Kutcher trailed CNN only a few days ago.
