Text Volume Tripled on Election Night

Did you send a text message to someone when the election was called for Barack Obama on Tuesday? If so, you were part of a threefold spike of SMS traffic in the 10 minutes following the official election of Obama to the presidency.

In total, between 7 p.m. and 12 a.m. Eastern time, 1.2 billion-plus text messages were sent across the land.
