T-Mobile Turns Up 3G with Google’s $199 Android Phone

Next week we’ll get to see the very first handset built on Google Inc.’s Android mobile platform, coming at us from T-Mobile USA for the low and iPhone-competitive price of $199.

In a nice bit of staged-launch synergy (yes, folks, the “s” word is back), the carrier announced on Thursday that it would turn up markets for its long-anticipated 3G upgrade in October, to coincide with the availability of the Android device.

By the end of the year T-Mobile’s UMTS footprint will include 27 major markets.
