Thanks, Wilmington: Switch to Digital Has a Hitch
09/17/2008
Good thing the city of Wilmington, N.C. agreed to be the FCC’s guinea pig for the upcoming transition to digital TV because, as it turns out, there’s a slight flaw. If you live too far away from the broadcaster, its digital signal might not reach your TV. The screen goes blank and you’re left without your precious dancing, singing and weight-losing reality stars. What’s a couch potato to do? Not a thing. The stations have to install additional antennas to ensure this frightening scenario doesn’t occur en masse next February.
