Sprint in ‘Overdrive’: Touts 3G/4G Wireless Wi-Fi Router
01/07/2010
Consumer Electronics Show (CES) — A new wireless router from Sprint will let you share your wireless broadband connection from one Wi-Fi device to another. It’s called the Overdrive, and it’s good where either 3G or 4G service is available. You can connect as many as five devices that are enabled with Wi-Fi – everything from your Xbox to your laptop computer. Consumers are getting their first look at the Overdrive, developed by Sierra Wireless, at CES this week. Sprint claims that the new router provides plenty of bandwidth for easy HD video and music streaming while Web surfing and gaming simultaneously. It first goes on sale at Best Buy this Sunday in select markets. The overdrive will set you back $100 after a mail-in rebate. You’ll need to get a two-year service contract for its 3G/4G data service, however, at about $60 per month.
