Spirent Sends OTA Platform to 7 layers
12/02/2008
Spirent Communications has delivered its first over-the-air (OTA) test platform for assisted GPS in mobile devices. The network equipment testing company sent the software to 7 layers, a CTIA-accredited, third-party lab that will add Sprints UMTS location test system to its OTA service portfolio. The OTA platform is intended to correct poor GPS antenna performance. That poor performance causes frustration among users, leading them to shun location-based services; in turn, operators lose that revenue. "Working with Spirent gives us the earliest possible opportunity to meet our customers' requests for both development testing and A-GPS certification once the CTIA Test Plan has been revised," said David Bissonette, vice president of business development at 7 layers.
