To quote Ferris Bueller: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around every once in a while, you might miss it.” Australian incumbent carrier Telstra is doing its part to free up subscribers’ time by partnering with SpinVox to roll out Voice2Text, which allows customers to read their voice messages rather than taking the extra time to listen to them.
The subscription service converts voicemail messages to text and sends them to mobile phones as SMS messages. Voice2Text users will see the caller ID in the text message, so they can easily call or text straight back.
“At a glance, people can usually see who has called, discreetly read the content of the voicemail and make prompt decisions even if they are in a noisy environment, traveling, or simply in the middle of doing something else,” said Telstra Consumer Executive Director Glenice Maclellan, in a statement. “In addition, Voice2Text means customers won’t have to write down telephone numbers from their voice messages - it is all presented in the text message.”
SpinVox supports the service via its Voice Message Conversion System, which uses a combination of voice recognition, artificial intelligence and natural linguistics.
Customers can choose from three monthly pricing options: $10 for 25 messages, $15 for 500 messages or pay-as-you-go at 40 cents per message (with $5 monthly fee).
