Sony Ericsson 1Q Losses Mean 2,000 More Layoffs

Sony Ericsson bid adieu to $387 million in the first quarter of 2009 and, consequently, also will bid bon voyage to 2,000 employees.

The joint venture said Thursday the economy is keeping down consumer demand for cell phones but that stabilization is in sight.

Still, investors and workers are still reeling from the high losses, which come on top of $247 million in losses during the fourth quarter of 2008.
