IBC Expo: SecureMedia Teams with Ericsson, InukVendor’s IPTV Content Security Wares Win Big
09/10/2008
Content protection software maker SecureMedia has forged deals with networking giant LM Ericsson Telephone Co. (ERIC) and carrier Inuk Networks, whereby the two will use the vendor’s wares to protect video transmitted over IP networks. Ericsson has chosen the security firm’s Encryptonite ONE System as a preferred protection system for its IPTV offerings “that support multiple viewing devices,” according to SecureMedia. SecureMedia’s products will be demonstrated at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) this week and part of next. The vendor claims its system provides digital media protection across devices including set-top boxes (STB), laptops or mobile devices. SecureMedia was also chosen in an announcement yesterday that the triple-play service provider has standardized Encryptonite One’s conditional access/digital rights management software solution with Inuk's igloo virtual set-top-box software. Inuk sells the combo direct to the education market and wholesales it to operators. The offering now enables customers to easily and securely extend their STB-based IPTV deployments to the PC or Mac. Neither the value, nor the length of the deals was given. Related Article: NAB: mediaXstream Thinking Big With Early Deals
