Report: Ex-Vodafone CEO to Reject Yahoo! Offer

The key contender to replace Jerry Yang at Yahoo! Inc. (YHOO) reportedly is nixing the deal.

Arun Sarin, former Vodafone Group (VOD) CEO, was considered the lead candidate to become Yahoo!’s new CEO. But articles started circulating Monday that Sarin wanted off the Yahoo! short list for a couple of reasons: Yahoo! well could be split into pieces and sold; Sarin has lucrative opportunities open to him at private-equity firms and other public companies as well.

Personally, we’d take the safer bet of something non-Yahoo!. But then, maybe that’s why we’re writers and not jet-setting executives.
