HAL Returns? Providers Bring Back Connected Home Talk

The Connected Home is back in play.

Visions of Jetsons-like computerized homes disappeared in the late ‘90s as the dot-cot bomb hit the tech sector. But as the global economy takes a dive, service providers are looking for ways to make the most of the assets they own.

Providers also think they can capitalize on the notion of connected home by showing how they can rein in energy costs and work with practical needs such as security and home health care.

Those are nice ideas and all, but is anyone else hearing, “I’m sorry, Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that”????
