Palm’s New Nova OS in Hands of Developers
Tara Seals
12/19/2008 Palm Inc. has released its long-awaited new mobile operating system, Nova, into the hands of developers and carriers ahead of its official January launch. Palm CEO Ed Colligan said in a financial earnings conference call that the first half of 2009 will see commercial release of Nova devices. Nova is expected to be officially unveiled at CES in January. "Our first next-generation phone is set for launch in the first half of calendar year 2009 as planned," Colligan said. "It's early in this space, and there's an enormous amount of opportunity left.” Palm hopes that Nova, which is part of a whole strategy to return to profitability by 2010, will bring the device maker back into the spotlight.
