NXTcomm: ATIS Adding Methods to Content Security Madness
Bob Wallace
06/17/2008 Continued from page 1 The content security effort would create device profiles that matches a type of media device. By doing this vendors of content protection wares also could better match what they have to the category of units, according to O’Callaghan. The ATIS effort, which Verizon is keenly interested in, also has been brought on by home networking groups looking to link more devices to home networks, whether by physical connection or wireless channel. Groups, such as the Digital Living Network Alliance, are driving hard to find way to add more devices, primarily consumer electronics, to home networks. This creates challenges for the industry as a whole, noted O’Callaghan. “A content owner doesn’t need the same protection for content in 1080dpi through FiOS TV as they need for content accessed by mobile devices and displayed on one-inch screens.”
