NTIA: ‘Are You Analog Enough?’

The National Telecommunications & Information Administration – the agency charged with distributing set-top converter box coupons for the DTV transition – may snub you if you have at least one television that is ready for the switch in June.

An NTIA spokeswoman says if they get backed up with requests like they did last month – before the switchover date was moved – priority in distributing the coupons will lean toward households that are “analog-only.”

So I guess that means Grandma, Grandpa and your hippie neighbor might be in luck.

Four million households are currently on a waiting list. The recently passed stimulus package provides $650 million for the converter box coupon program.
