New Motorola Phone Might ‘Devour’ YouSmartphone Marketed To Social Networking Fans

Coming off a so-so earnings report which revealed that mobile handset sales are struggling, Motorola today unveiled the Devour, and Android-based handset that might be considered the Droid’s little brother. The Devour is the first Verizon Wireless phone to feature MOTOBLUR, Motorola’s content delivery service, created to make wireless phones more personal and customizable. Motorola says MOTOBLUR is the first solution to sync contacts from work and personal e-mail services, including Gmail, with posts, messages, photos and more from popular sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. With MOTOBLUR, content is automatically delivered to the home screen and fed into easy-to-manage streams. The company clearly hopes this phone will catch on with the social networking crowd, particularly younger people. Key features include:
Motorola says to get the most out of Devour, you’ll need to subscribe to a Nationwide Talk or Nationwide Talk & Text plan and a smartphone data package. Nationwide Talk plans begin at $39.99 per month; Nationwide Talk & Text plans begin at $59.99. A smartphone data package runs $29.99. The Devour will be available through Verizon Wireless sometime in March.
