Navi-Phone: AT&T, Garmin Release GPS Handset

09/29/2009

The navigation phone has arrived, with turn-by-turn voice-prompted directions, a “Where am I?” feature, and a feature that helps users find their car in a crowded parking lot or unfamiliar location.

AT&T Inc. and Garmin International Inc. will make the Garmin nuvifone G60 available Oct. 4 in AT&T stores and online. The device is the only phone to fully integrate the Garmin GPS navigator with voice, data and mobile Web. The phone comes preloaded with maps and millions of points of interest for North America. It also offers Web surfing, texting with a touch-screen virtual keyboard, and photo-taking with a three-megapixel camera.

Customers who purchase a nuvifone can also use it as an in-car navigation unit, including a dashboard and windshield mount.
