Mirror Images Lands Hollyscoop for Video Delivery

02/02/2009

Content delivery network operator Mirror Image Internet Inc. today announced it has added to its stable of Web video portals, landing Hollyscoop, which sought help in uploading, managing, reporting, monetizing and delivering its video.

The deal casts a brighter light on the related, and business-oriented capabilities CDN operators offer well above the beyond technology to deliver video more effectively to a broadening consumer audience.

Video delivery, specifically streaming, grabbed the spotlight and mainstream attention in 2008 as CDNs were called on for streaming video delivery for March Madness, political conventions, the Summer Olympics from Beijing and presidential debates.

Hollyscoop provides celebrity news, fashion, and gossip to readers. Updated around the clock, it claims to bring fresh content to readers from around the world in 220 countries.

The Web video portal is using Mirror Image's MMP and Global Content Caching offerings, and Mirror’s global Content Access Point (CAP) network to reliably deliver streaming media content to users around the world

Mirror claims its MMP service allows companies to easily integrate and monetize video content on their Web sites. MMP is described as an “end-to-end, brandable video solution that covers everything from ingestion, transcoding, media and meta data storage, player templates, advertising integration, video delivery, reporting and analytics.”

And while most of the focus over time has been on CDN networks of servers and caching gear, the business side of video streaming has come to the fore as Web sites continue to struggle to find revenue models, especially ad models, and have often had to rely on content syndication to large sites to stay afloat.

“Mirror Image ensures that our site loads as quickly as possible and helps control traffic influxes to the site. In the world of entertainment, every second counts to build audiences,” said Raymond Attipa, CEO at Hollyscoop.
