Martin’s FCC Hurries to Tackle Wireless MergersClock is Ticking for Bush Administration

With McCain’s poll numbers down and a Democratic president looking ever-more likely, the Bush administration is revving up to make its mark before the administration changes hands. And communications is one of its target areas. As part of this effort, the FCC is reportedly shifting into high gear and expects to review the proposed wireless mergers of Verizon-Alltel and Sprint Nextel-Clearwire. Also on the FCC’s to-do list: decisions around interconnection rates, airwave auctions and spectrum reallocation.
