Level 3 Names Mark Martinet CIO

Level 3 Communications Inc. (LVLT) has selected Mark Martinet as CIO. Martinet will be based at the company's headquarters in Broomfield, Colo., and will report to Jeff Storey, president and COO. Martinet brings more than 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry to Level 3.

"Mark Martinet is highly regarded in the telecommunications industry," said Storey. "As chief information officer and chief technology officer of BT Business in London, Mark has demonstrated skills as a key innovator and has made significant improvements to key operating metrics such as reducing cycle time and cost."

Prior to his current role, Martinet was head of strategy and transformation for BT Group, reporting to the Group CIO. In this role, Martinet worked across the entire BT portfolio with a specific focus on business transformation and process improvement. Before joining BT in 2004, Martinet spent four years with Qwest in a variety of technology, business and product roles. He began his telecom career in 1994.
