Comcast Corp.’s new residential triple play bundles cost more but offer better video-on-demand (VOD) capabilities.

The new Comcast Preferred Plus triple play bundle has the same features as the base model, but for $30 more per month, it also has seven channels of HBO with HBO On Demand and six channels of Starz with Starz on Demand.

Both triple play offerings include basic VOD service for the purchase new and recent movies, special events and other content. Many first run movies and an occasional day-and date movie can be purchased in some markets for $4.99.

This latest triple play offering represents an acceleration of Comcast’s VOD assets promotion, which includes free, day-after episodes of CBS TV shows such as the CSI franchise, NCIS, Numb3rs and he new show, Swingtown.

The cable giant has also recently tried shorter-term triple play promotions, with a Dads and Grads deal that offered $200 cash back, that began in May and ended Monday.
