iPhone Now Less Likely Verizon-Bound

10/09/2009

IDC analysts say Verizon is now much less likely to start selling the Apple iPhone next year than previously thought. That’s due to this week’s announcement that Google and Verizon will be working to put more Android smartphones on the market.

Does that mean Apple is more likely to lengthen its exclusive agreement with AT&T? There’s no evidence yet that it’s ready to happen in the U.S., at least. Only time will tell. IDC predicts Verizon will raise data rates next year in an attempt to show that its network is superior to AT&T’s, which has taken a lot of heat this year for its service problems.
