IBC: Cisco Picks Irdeto for Content Protection

Will Build Conditional Access into STBs

Irdeto Access B.V. today announced that it has further expanded an agreement with Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO), whereby the networking giant will integrate the vendor’s conditional access offering with its set-top boxes.

The announcement was made at the annual International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam.

As result of this agreement, Cisco has introduced a hybrid high-definition interactive personal video recorder STB in the Netherlands. Cisco’s 8455DVB PVR MPEG-4 HD is currently available through Ziggo in the Netherlands and offers customers digital video broadcasting, personal video recorder and high-definition television capabilities, according to Irdeto.
