Helio CEO Steps Down to Become Chairman

Helio LLC Founder and CEO Sky Dayton is leaving the top position at the MVNO to become chairman, the company said Monday. Wonhee Sull, the former president and COO of Helio will replace Dayton.

Dayton replaces Jinwoo So, president of global business for SK Telecom, as chairman.

"Helio has reached a point in its development where I feel the timing is right for this change,” Dayton said in a statement.

Helio is a joint venture of EarthLink and South Korea’s SK Telecom. Dayton also founded EarthLink and Boingo Wireless, for which his remains chairman.

Helio launched nearly two years ago and SK Telecom invested an additional $270 million in the MVNO last year to cut EarthLink’s ownership share to 22 percent. The company claims to have about 200,000 subscribers.
