Hargray Expands to Florida with ‘Smart’ Purchase

Hargray Communications, the Hilton Head, S.C.-headquartered LEC that enjoys an affluent customer base, is buying Smart City Holdings LLC’s central Florida assets. Terms weren’t disclosed; Hargray is privately held. The deal looks like a smart move for Hargray – the provider serves a small populous and branching out into the Orlando area gives it more access to its core customers: retirees, snowbirds, and other residents and temporary visitors with big pocketbooks.
