Harbinger Capital Acquires Big Chunk of Cablevision

Harbinger Capital is now the fifth-largest outside shareholder of Cablevision Systems (CVC). The hedge fund manager has acquired more than 11 million shares of the cable operator. That’s 5 percent of the company. Cablevision is mulling spinning off some of its assets.
