GSA Taps Verizon Business for Alliant Contract
03/30/2009
Verizon Business was awarded a 10-year contract by the U.S. General Services Administration to provide IT solutions and professional services to federal agencies. Verizon Business, through its Federal Network Systems arm, was among multiple awardees selected by the GSA to provide services under the contract, which has a total value of as much as $50 billion. The contract, for a program known as Alliant, authorizes Verizon Business to negotiate with government agencies to serve as a services and solutions integrator and provide a variety of services. They include business process consulting and application development, communications applications and application management, data center services, communication integration and management, networking and secure-application optimization. Alliant, which has a five-year base with one five-year option, will replace the GSA ANSWER and Millennia contracts for individual IT task orders with a minimum value of $1 million. “We have been providing IT and professional services, especially in the security and call center areas, for the government under other contracts. Alliant presents an opportunity for us to further meet the needs of federal agencies under an easy-to-use vehicle provided by the GSA,” said Susan Zeleniak, group president, Verizon Federal, a sales organization within Verizon Business dedicated to serving federal government customers. In addition to Alliant, Verizon Business provides communications and IT services through several federal government contracts, including the Networx program, GSA Washington Interagency Telecommunications System (WITS 3), GSA Local Services Acquisition (LSA) contracts and GSA CONNECTIONS.
