NAB: Indian Content Site Partners in Prep for Summer Launch
Bob Wallace
04/16/2008 Continued from page 1 That was exactly the case for CelebTV.com (http://www.celebtv.com), which after a smooth launch, decided to bring in thePlatform’s video management and publishing system to streamline those processes as well as content delivery to its partners in syndication, such as Comcast Corp.’s Fancast. Perhaps ironically, Comcast bought the company which now operates as an independent entity that says it’s free to partner with any service provider whether they’re a Comcast competitor or not. Emphasizing the importance of offering a complete package to video sites, thePlatform has teamed with eight partners, including SpotXchange, and Cisco Systems Inc., whose products fill in the technical and business ecosystem needed to build and sustain web Internet video operations. “The concept of our framework with partners is to bring point solutions to customers, along with the community tools that let visitors comment on and rate videos, to help them drive consumption of their video and monetize it,” explained Marty Roberts, vice-president of marketing for thePlatform. And given demand for its content well outside the United States, GluTV has also partnered with global content delivery network operator Akamai to address potential content access challenges encountered by other nascent websites who underestimated interest in their video assets and ran into performance problems.
