Deep packet inspection equipment vendor Procera Networks Inc. (PKT) today comes out with a device called the PL10002 that aggregates traffic for its 80gig platform launched in May. The new PacketLogic PL10002 is a compact, 3RU chassis with up to four gigabit Ethernet channels at full wire speed. The product, based on an AdvancedTCA chassis, can support up to 500,000 subscribers. It will sell for around $120,000. Jon Lindén, Procera’s vice president of global marketing, expects the PL10002 will probably take off first for CMTS applications at the cablecos. But the product is suitable for a variety of wireline and wireless carriers and applications. In addition to the the PL10002, the PacketLogic PL10000 series includes the PL10005, a 10gigE, 5RU product, and the PL10014, which hosts multiple 10gigE channels in a 12RU chassis that scales to 80gbps throughput.
