Dorman to Head Motorola Board
04/09/2008
Former AT&T Inc. CEO David Dorman will take over as Motorola Inc.’s non-executive board chairman in May. Dorman will replace Ed Zander, chairman and former CEO, Motorola announced on Wednesday. The news comes the same week Motorola settled a proxy fight with activist investor Carl Icahn, agreeing to give him two board nominees. Dorman’s appointment also comes as Motorola splits itself in two, hoping to rekindle its fortunes in the mobile handset market. Dorman has worked in telecom for 28 years. He’s a managing director and senior advisor at Warburg Pincus and Co. He served as AT&T’s chairman and CEO from 2002-2005. Dorman also has held executive positions at Sprint and Pacific Bell.
